Something For You To Think About

The founding of America was done so on the bases that the Bible was the premise on which laws were framed. Hard preaching was expected and it became the norm for over 270 years. Around the 1900's men began to "weaken" the message with social messages of "love" and "toleration" for acceptable sins (whatever they are). The men who made the news, where the most noted among the "fundamental" saints were men like, George Whitefield, Charles Finney, Peter Cartwright, John Wesley, Billy Sunday, Bob Jones Sr, J. Frank Norris, Harry Ironsides, Sam Jones, etc. Not only where their messages often printed in the local newspaper, but their meetings produced such change in communities that barrooms closed, red-light disticts where put out of business, moon-shiners were put out of business, etc. Revival was a normal result of these meetings, with not only the lost being saved, but saints repenting and changing their way of living. I could go on and on but I believe you get the idea. Now days, the prominent preachers don't believe the Bible, don't see revivals that change towns and cities, put wickedness OUT of business, etc. What do you suppose is the difference? Well I leave that supposition up to you but I think that you can figure that out without much effort. These men promote themselves and their great knowledge rather than Lord Jesus Christ. They are more interested in BIG works rather than souls saved and saints repenting. - Just something to think about.

Trivia And Things You Might Find Interesting
Did you ever wonder where that common expression you use or hear might have come from? Here's a few for you to consider.
  • Have you ever heard or said, "my time is short"? - Psalm 89:47
  • Ever been at your "wit's end"? - Psalm 107:27
  • Perhaps you've heard of the song Everything Is Beautiful - Ecclesiastes 3:11
  • Have you ever had "weak knees" or said, "My knees were as weak as water"? - Ezekiel 7:17
  • Nothing new about the "press" they been around for awhile. - Mark 5:27 (Okay see Acts 17:21 - isn't this what CBS, ABC, CNN, etc, spend their time doing?)
  • "There's nothing like it anywhere!" - II Chronicles 9:19
  • Have you ever said, "Mark my word" or "Mark it down"? - Job 21:5

Startling News!

* In a survey only one out of three Americans were able to name all four gospels in ANY order.
* 80 to 85 percent of American churches are either not growing or are losing their members and there is no positive replacements.
*The fastest growing "faith" (if you can call it that) in the United States is the Jehovah Witnesses. It is said that they now have more than 1 million members.
*We are told that less than 60% of those who claim to be professing Christian parents teach their children that there are moral truths that everyone ought to obey. (Perhaps the sad truth is that these parents don't know them theirselves!)
*Somewhere around 88% of our young people raised in "fundamental" conservative Christian homes leave the church when they turn 18 and never return! (Wonder why they did that? Suppose the "training up in the way he should go" [Proverbs 22:6] was that the church isn't that important rather family, sports, fun, etc, were put before the church!)
[I did not verify these statistics, but one look at what is going on in America certainly gives credences to them.]

Come back, we'll be adding more things to this page as time permits.
